Day 2 - Cape Town

Another sunny day today. Visited the district 6 museum and company gardens. Looked around for some restaurants selling traditional South African cuisine but wasn't able to find any. Perhaps this is because there are so many different people from different backgrounds in Cape Town that there aren't any 'traditional' foods, but I do know that 'Braai' seems to be popular!

Whilst in town we noticed a few more beggars, but they were not very persistent like they could be in India and we only had to fend off a couple of requests for money.

Eventually we ended up eating in an Ethiopian restaurant were we sat at a low round wicker table sitting on low chairs. We tried some combos which meant that we could try 2 smaller portions of each main meal. Eri chose a prawn dish and a chick pea dish while I choose a fish dish and a meat dish. The 4 small portions were served up on a giant Ethiopian 'injera' bread. This is rather like a large pancake. We also had some smaller injera and this was what was used to scoop and mop up the food. We really enjoyed the meal.

After the meal, we found the car hire place; luckily we found it because I left the address and the car hire details back in the hotel room. After the formalities were completed we drove back to the hotel in our white Chevrolet aveo.

Later on we went back to the waterfront to have a glass of South African red. We also tried some South African sweets. I chose a traditional Milk tert whilst Eri had koeksisters. Whilst we were eating a group of male singers and dancers entertained the customers at each restaurant area for a few gratuities.
